Miller Johnson, one of Michigan’s largest full-service law firms, is seeking an experienced full-time Billing Specialist for our Grand Rapids office.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the client billing cycle, including client/matter intake, time-entry, preparation of pre-bills and final invoices, electronic billing, monitoring write-offs and other adjustments, special billing arrangements, reporting, etc.
- Maintain client database and accounting software users; assist with implementation of annual accounting software upgrades and enhancements and train new users
- Serve as a resource and consult with firm attorneys and staff on accounting and billing matters
- Monitor new client intake and work in progress to ensure timely billing
- Assist with cash application and credit card processing
- Professionally represent the firm while responding to client inquiries regarding billing and invoicing
- Professionally represent the firm while working with and collecting delinquent accounts
REQUIREMENTS:
- Pro-active and detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
- Exceptional client service, independent judgment, and discretion to ensure client confidentiality
- Flexibility and teamwork in a fast-paced environment
- Concise and effective written and verbal communication
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a professional services firm preferred
- Knowledge of general accounting principles preferred
- Proficient in the use of accounting/time and billing software, web-based research, and MS Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
