The Senior Technical Project Manager is responsible for supporting AUS-300 management and division staff with developing actionable and executable UAS & AAM integration research requirements as well as generating innovative ideas for executive level messaging including impactful and intuitive visuals while working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. The position requires advanced business acumen and political astuteness. It requires researching and understanding highly technical and complex concepts to be documented and easily understood by a broad audience.
In addition to the requirements above, the Senior Technical Project Manager will:
- Apply UAS experience and comprehensive knowledge of administrative processes and procedures to plan, develop, and communicate strategies, repositories, and other research documentation to promote the division’s standards for organization, agility, quality, reliability, and efficiency
- Draft, consolidate, and augment written materials on research projects and plans, as well as significant events, talking points, briefing slides, memorandum, meeting minutes, and speeches
- Gather, validate, and input technical data in preparation of regular action and milestone reports, research planning documents, and complete other UAS research portfolio tracking
- Compile, track, and analyze data using tracking tools and recommend solutions.
- Track, prepare, and coordinate controlled correspondence including FAA executive communications, and congressional inquiries
- Accrue and apply experience and advanced knowledge of UAS research for coordination with division stakeholders in order to enhance partnerships, effectively communicate progress, and efficiently respond to inquiries/actions related to the division’s research and development portfolio, programs, projects, and activities
- Plan and coordinate meetings with UAS research stakeholders as needed to enhance collaboration
- Utilize Business Intelligence tools to create executive-level talking points and data visualizations that support decision-making
- Develop and prepare executive-level briefings of highly technical and complex concepts
- Research policies that will contribute to guidance and analysis for UAS rulemaking, policymaking, and procedural design
- Provide technical knowledge and analysis of highly specialized UAS applications and operational environments
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a Business-related field and 10 years of relevant technical experience
Skills and Experience
- Superior executive-level oral and written communication skills and the ability to summarize and present complex information in a clear and concise manner to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to translate highly technical and complex concepts and topics into plain language with a bottom-line up front approach
- Able to eloquently convey technical information that is easily understood by anyone not familiar with the subject across a variety of audiences including research performers as well as FAA, government, international, Congressional, and industry stakeholders
- Able to craft/generate requirements that will be used to support FAA research funding and policy development
- Highly skilled in determining the clearest and most logical way to present information for maximum reader comprehension
- Able to generate innovative ideas for content and workflow solutions
- High-level ability with the Microsoft suite of tools – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
- Experienced meeting with subject-matter-experts to ensure specialized topics are appropriately addressed
- Ability to analyze information required for the development or updating of policy, procedure, and/or form documentation
- High-level ability to review, augment, and polish content developed by other members of the team
- Experienced collaborating with the customer to define requirements and to help meet organizational goals and objectives
- Ability to balance multiple projects and be able to adjust as priorities shift
- Self-starter and able to work independently with or without direct supervision
- PMI-certified Project Management Professional (PMP)
Preferred Experience:
- Inter-agency government and industry liaison
- Prior FAA experience
