We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Telemetry unit. As a Telemetry Nurse, you will play a vital role in monitoring and providing specialized care for patients requiring telemetry monitoring. Your primary responsibility will be to assess, monitor, and interpret patients' cardiac rhythms, collaborate with the healthcare team to develop care plans, administer medications, and ensure the overall well-being of patients in the telemetry unit.
Responsibilities:
Cardiac Monitoring and Assessment:Monitor patients' cardiac rhythms using telemetry equipment and interpret the data to identify any abnormalities or changes.
Conduct thorough assessments of patients' cardiovascular status, including vital signs, oxygen saturation, and cardiac symptoms.
Recognize and respond promptly to any critical changes or life-threatening situations, initiating appropriate interventions and contacting the healthcare team as necessary.
Collaborate with physicians, cardiologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans based on patients' cardiac needs and overall health status.
Medication Administration and Treatment:Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring accurate dosages, proper administration techniques, and patient safety.
Monitor patients' responses to medications and treatments, assessing for any adverse reactions or side effects.
Assist with cardiac procedures, such as cardioversion and temporary pacemaker insertion, under the supervision of physicians or advanced practice providers.
Coordinate and facilitate diagnostic tests, such as echocardiograms and stress tests, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
Patient Education and Support:Provide patient and family education on cardiac conditions, diagnostic procedures, medications, and lifestyle modifications to promote self-care and disease management.
Offer emotional support, empathy, and reassurance to patients and their families during stressful and challenging times.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate resources and referrals for patients requiring additional cardiac education or rehabilitation services.
Documentation and Communication:Accurately document patient information, assessments, interventions, and outcomes in electronic medical records (EMRs) or other designated systems.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team, providing clear explanations, instructions, and emotional support.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals during interdisciplinary rounds, meetings, and handoffs to ensure coordinated care and smooth transitions.
Report and escalate any significant changes or concerns regarding patient conditions to the appropriate healthcare providers.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:Adhere to nursing standards, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining patient safety.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including data collection, analysis, and implementation of evidence-based practices to enhance patient outcomes.
Stay updated with the latest cardiac nursing practices, advancements, and healthcare technologies through continuous professional development and education.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all patient interactions and documentation.
Qualifications:
- Valid and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
- Prior experience in telemetry, cardiac care, or a related field is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of cardiac rhythms, arrhythmias, and interpretation of telemetry data.
- Proficient in administering medications, including intravenous (IV) medications, and managing cardiac emergencies.
- Excellent clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Compassion, empathy, and the ability to provide emotional support to patients and their families.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and manage time efficiently.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems and healthcare technologies.
- CPR certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
