Lind Electronics is a leading manufacturer of rugged power solutions for mobile electronics. For over 30 years, Lind has been the main supplier of reliable, quality products to our many worldwide customers. Lind designs and assembles its products on-site at our manufacturing facility near Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our primary products are digitally controlled DC-DC power adapters and battery chargers for ruggedized laptops and tablet computers.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer. In this rewarding position, you will work directly with engineers, technicians and production to drive the design and development of our extensive line of products.
Key Responsibilities: This list of duties and responsibilities is NOT all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary.
- Provide design guidance for all aspects of new product creation.
- Learning and creation design of multiple topologies (buck, boost, buck/boost, flyback, etc.) of efficient DC-DCconverters.
- Create design documentation (schematics, firmware, BOMs, assembly drawings, etc.) for new products.
- Interface with customers for design reviews and other technical discussions.
- Help with customers to troubleshoot installation and functional problems.
- Provide some mentoring / direction for junior engineers and technicians.
- Determine production testing requirements and create test fixtures, loads etc. to effectively test new products.
- Understand and help maintain existing product lines.
- Guide design for compliance with worldwide and military certification requirements such as UL, TUV, CE, MIL-STDs, etc.
- Participate in mechanical design decisions and approaches as needed.
- Research and development of new technologies pertinent to mobile power supply solutions.
- Some travel may occasionally be required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or higher.
- 7-10 years minimum work experience as an electrical engineer or related technical job.
- Hands-on experience in creating original circuit designs / schematic for production and DFMA.
- Hands-on experience with designing and troubleshooting PCB layouts for production.
- Power supply design knowledge preferred but not required.
- Experience with embedded systems and/or microcontroller-based control systems.
- Programming experience is preferred but not required.
- USB design experience preferred but not required.
- Experience documenting original designs for production release.
- Experience designing for compliance with International Standards required; experience with Military Standardspreferred but not required.
- Experience working cross-functionally with other teams.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in Altium, Cadence or related ECAD software.
- Proficient with MS Office programs Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
