The Company's North American operations are located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Plymouth, Indiana, where we produce fruit and dairy preparations for a variety of customers including yogurt, ice cream and bakery manufacturers.
The Material Planner is responsible for reviewing sales forecast, product specifications, and production schedules to accurately determine raw material requirements for an organization. Ensures raw materials are available to meet designated production schedules. Utilizes MRP system to coordinate materials from purchasing, processing, warehousing, and production. Documents material details, including all codes, brands, and contact information necessary to process orders. Updates orders to account for remaining inventory or changes in production schedules.
Primary Responsibilities:
Place orders with vendors for raw materials and packaging goods minimizing inventories and costs.
Communicate availability of material for production with related departments.
Determine optimum raw material & packaging levels using consumption reports and MRP program to optimize inventory turns.
Execute pull-strategy that has been developed by strategic purchasing team.
Follow coverage of contracts and stock and communicate balance in a regular manner to the Procurement Leadership Team.
Manage workflow items. Code and approve invoices.
Create raw materials views and classifications.
Organize inbound transportation for material using defined carriers – making sure to bundle volume and keep transportation costs as low as possible.
Find the right balance between stock level and security of supply.
Maintain info-record of every material updated all the time.
Efficient usage of SAP capabilities.
Bundle LTL transportation for cost efficiencies, follow and execute pull-strategy and support other sites in case needed.
Identify slow moving and obsolete materials. Find a solution in-house to use the material up or support the strategic sourcing team to sell it off.
Manage the inventory in and outflow from the offsite warehouse.
Be informed about all discontinuations, Trials, and Launches. And provide necessary information to other stakeholders to promote fast, successful and accurate procedures.
Support Inventories and any other duties as required.
Manage Blocked materials and work cross functional with Quality and the suppliers.
Formal Education Required:
Minimum HS degree, College credits or BS degree in business or related field preferred.
Specific Experience and Key Knowledge Requirements:
Minimum 1-3 years’ experience Purchasing or related field.
Inventory Management experience a plus.
