Job Description
OVERVIEW
CNBC International is seeking a high-performing individual to drive strategy and business development for the world’s leading business news brand, in SEA & ANZ. The CNBC International Commercial group is a small, high-impact team within CNBC International that partners, internally & externally, with C-suite executives to retain and/or pivot existing revenue streams, and fuel long-term growth. We’re looking for a collaborative thought leader, with a keen understanding of our industry trends, to lead CNBC’s distribution & business development efforts across select accounts and/or markets.
This role will have responsibility over the P&L of Distribution, Direct-to-Consumer (DTC), and Digital revenue (for select SEA & ANZ). The role is supported by local agents, by the Distribution Analyst (APAC) and the Distribution intern for whom it holds management responsibility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop the SEA & ANZ commercial sales strategy and plans.

Identify and monetise every distribution opportunity in SEA & ANZ across all operators (cable, satellite, IPTV, telecommunications, digital, broadband, and mobile).

Execute full sales process from negotiating deals and contract terms to managing the launch of new services.

Research and synthesise market data to identify and evaluate new business/ investment/ partnership opportunities.

Collaborate directly with the Business Development Manager, International to proactively grow (build pipeline) licensing revenue, across different content formats, and identify new forms of content licensing opportunities.

Collaborate directly with the B2B & DTC Manager, EMEA to grow the expansion of CNBC’s DTC products through strategic B2B partnerships.

Qualifications
Requirements:

Bachelors’ degree in communication, journalism or related field
-
3-5 years’ experience working in print, online or television news in a medium to large sized market.

Demonstrated knowledge of AP Style writing and guidelines

Experience with WordPress, YouTube, Dalet, Wildmoka, Social Flow, Slack, Parse.ly, Domo, AWS Elemental systems a plus

Excellent news instincts with the ability to react decisively to breaking news; combined with the ability to write succinctly and with flair

Flexible, with a willingness to undertake shift work associated with working for a 24/7 news operation.

Experience working with social media, marketing products using social networking sites or creating content that lives on such sites

Experience of working in content management systems required

Ability to work on multiple tasks and stories simultaneously in a fast paced environment

Ability to react to breaking news, updating the news as stories evolve and writing intros and leads to video online content

Ability to work in a team and across all departments and locations, ensuring a smooth running web site that is 100% accurate without typos or errors
The estimated hourly rate for this role is $20.00 - $25.00 commensurate with experience.
