Job Title: Materials & Supplies Preparator:
The Salvadori Center ~ a leading educational non-profit in the New York City region and northeastern Pennsylvania ~ is seeking a team player for the role of Materials & Supplies Preparator. The Materials & Supplies Preparator role will report directly to the Senior Educators and Deputy Director and will prepare materials for Educators to teach STEAM education to students in grades K-12.
For nearly 50 years, Salvadori has provided students opportunities to see and understand how science, technology, engineering, arts/architecture, and math (STEAM) are all around them. Students work collaboratively and use a project-based approach that is tied to the built environment (buildings, bridges, parks, communities, etc.). We offer a variety of multi-day in-school, after-school, and summer programs that enable every student to succeed, as well as professional development workshops that give teachers a strong foundation in project-based learning.
As a Materials & Supplies Preparator, you will play an integral part in ensuring the continued success of Salvadori’s mission. A Salvadori Materials & Supplies Preparator should have a strong interest in developing, preparing, and keeping an inventory of materials and supplies.
Job Description:
Preparing materials for K-12 STEAM programs.
- Making materials (including cutting, scoring, counting, and sorting) for Educators to use for teaching.
- Using such tools as box cutters, measuring tape, scissors, protractors, compasses and hand powered tools to make materials.
- Cutting different types of materials with precision (wood, cardboard, foam board, etc.).
- Maintain tools, hardware, and other equipment.
Assisting in the innovation and development of new materials to use in K-12 STEAM programs.
- With the help of Educators, Senior Educators and Deputy Director, develop and create new materials to teach programs.
- Design How-to-Guides to help inform others how to make new materials.
- Work with Educators to design new materials for new curricula.
Collaborating with the Senior Educators to keep an accurate inventory of supplies.
- Monitor the inventory of supplies in the prep room and send Senior Educators supply orders.
- Monitor and maintain an inventory of supplies in storage.
- Maintain tools, hardware, and other equipment.
Assisting Senior Educators and Deputy Director to complete special projects as needed.
- Projects include but are not limited to: Annual Design Charrette, displays of student work product for the Annual Benefit, preparing materials for CTLE Professional Development Series, presentations at trade shows and conferences.
Qualifications:
- Detail oriented and organized
- Communicate and follow directions effectively
- Exhibit a high level of craft in producing materials
- Ability to participate effectively as a member of a cross-functional team
- Willingness and ability to learn
- Able to handle multiple tasks and simultaneous projects
Preferred skills and qualifications
- Architectural, engineering, fine art, or graphic design experience
- 2 years of work experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel applications

- Creating high quality materials for Educators that allows students to see and understand the math and science in the world around them.
- Maintaining an accurate inventory of all materials to ensure Educators have what they need to teach classes.

Compensation and Benefits:
Salvadori offers competitive salaries with an excellent benefits package that includes:
- Starting Salary: $50,000
- 403B Plan: 5% of salary equaling $2,500 (no match or contribution required) after 6 months.
- No Cost Benefits: Medical Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance equivalent to $8,748.96 (no health insurance co-pays or deductibles for employee) after 3 months.
In addition, all employees start with 52 leave days: 16 holidays, 15 vacation days, 9 sick days, 2 personal days and 10-day office closure in August.
