Located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, PriceStats develops daily economic indicators using online data. We specialize in combining technology and economics to innovate the way economic trends are identified. Our work is grounded on the research conducted by the Billion Prices Project at MIT and Harvard University, and we have an exclusive partnership with State Street Bank through which we distribute our indices to the financial sector.
We are seeking a smart, innovative, and talented individual to join us as an Economics Analyst. This role combines economic research and data analytics, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects. You will join a dynamic team of economists and data analysts who are passionate about following current events that may affect economic conditions, as well as keeping abreast of new developments in technology that we can leverage in our work.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Economics, the Economics Analyst comes to us with a degree in economics, statistics, or a related field and a strong interest in econometrics and macroeconomics. In this role, you will be involved with the full breadth of economic analysis that PriceStats performs, from conducting research into specific sources of economic data, writing and evolving software tools and scripts to process and monitor our daily indicators, and collaborating with an international team to develop innovative indicators using our extensive databases.
Location
The PriceStats Team is currently working from home and may facilitate training and onboarding for this job remotely. Once we reopen the office (targeting early fall 2024), this position will be hybrid, where the employee will work partly remotely and partly in-person in our Cambridge, Massachusetts office. Employees must be based in the state of Massachusetts.
Salary
The salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000/year + bonus (average of 10-20%), commensurate with experience.

Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, or related field (master’s degree a plus)
- Experience and interest in econometrics and macroeconomics
- Comprehensive knowledge of Stata and other statistical software is a plus
- Knowledge of Python and SQL is a plus
- Comfortable learning new technologies
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Highly driven and independent
- Comfortable working with teams
