Our School Facilities and Safety Manager is an integral part of our collaborative school community and would play a large role in the daily operations of our school.
Our Facilities and Safety Manager will be expected to travel between our two campuses (South Loop and Andersonville/Uptown).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
FACILITIES
- Respond to all facilities and maintenance needs for both locations
- Performing routine maintenance on HVAC units (changing filters, cleaning strainers for heat pumps, etc)
- Communicate with outside vendors (plumbers, HVAC technicians, electricians, etc) and schedule necessary repairs
- Conduct landscape maintenance (snow removal, raking, pavement clearing, tree maintenance, trash removal, etc)
- Prepares requisitions for tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Troubleshoot equipment and facility system
- Keep an inventory of maintenance supplies (tools, plungers, keys, etc)
- Create and keep maintenance schedules and budgets for facilities' needs for both locations
- May supervise workers engaged in installing, servicing, and repairing mechanical equipment
- Interprets specifications and job orders to vendors and assigns duties, as necessary
- Performs other duties as assigned, to include special projects
SAFETY
- Conduct regular safety inspections of the school facilities and grounds to identify and address potential hazards.
- Assist in the creation of safe student transport plans, such as crossing the street, taking walks in the neighborhood, etc
- Stay up-to-date on current safety regulations and best practices.
- Foster a positive safety culture within the school community.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- Possess good supervisory skills & the ability to work with and through others to achieve desired results
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong administrative skills to include PC skills
- Manage relationships with school directors and other administrative staff
- Extensive experience in the repair and maintenance of buildings and facilities (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, buildings, etc)
- Requires the analytical ability to handle administrative duties and mental alertness to ensure accurate, safe, and thorough completion of work activities.
- Possess the ability to work under pressure and to concentrate and deal with frequent interruptions
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, and be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to work in multiple temperature environments from -20F degrees to +80F degrees
- Work environment is fast paced.
