Job Title: Maintenance Technician

White Oak conserves and sustains some of the earth's rarest wild animals through innovative training, research, education, and conservation breeding programs that contribute to the survival of wildlife in nature. The conservation programs span 600 acres along the St. Mary’s River in northeast Florida, surrounded by 17,000 acres of mixed forest and wetlands that make up the beautiful White Oak property. Founded in 1982, White Oak leads professional efforts to improve veterinary care, develop holistic animal management techniques, and better understand the biology of critically endangered species by providing excellent care and managing conservation programs for over 30 species of imperiled wildlife in large, naturalistic habitats.
Position Purpose: To maintain, repair, and install all mechanical assets at White Oak both interior and exterior. This includes electrical and plumbing with some HVAC skills.
Responsibilities and Tasks: The following list provides examples of the position’s most typical duties. Additional duties may be assigned as needed and required.
- Conduct trouble shooting, repairs, and installation of electrical systems
- Conduct troubleshooting, repairs, and installation of plumbing systems
- Routine scheduled preventative maintenance on all lighting/ electrical and plumbing systems interior and exterior of all facilities.
- Repairs and maintenance to all sewage systems
- Repairs and maintenance of commercial and residential kitchen, laundry, and other appliances
- Repair, replacement, and maintenance of pool pumps, controls, and piping systems as well as other pumps including irrigation, recirculating, and fire protection pumps
- Operation of construction equipment include ditch witch, shop, and power tools
- Work closely with maintenance manager and team to complete priority maintenance projects
Minimum Qualification Requirements
This position requires five years’ experience in commercial and residential plumbing and electrical maintenance, repairs, and installation with some HVAC skills helpful. Valid driver’s license required
Certificates of competency (journeyman cards) in electrical and plumbing a plus but not required.
Special Working Conditions
Working conditions include working in inclement weather, extreme temperatures (attics), noise, hazardous materials, able to work using ladders and man lifts, and carry heavy objects.
This is an hourly position which requires weekend rotating coverage and may require occasional after hour service work.
