Scope of Practice
Licensed Clinical Social Worker: "Licensed Clinical Social Worker" (LCSW) is a person who has received a license as a Clinical Social Worker from the board, and may engage in Clinical Social Work Practice: The professional application of social work theory and methods to the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of psychosocial dysfunction, disability or impairment, including emotional and mental disorders. It is based on knowledge and theory of psychosocial development, behavior, psychopathology, unconscious motivation, interpersonal relationships, environmental stress, social systems, and cultural diversity with particular attention to person-in-environment. It shares with all social work practice the goal of enhancement and maintenance of psychosocial functioning of individuals, families and small groups.
Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor: “Clinical Professional Counselor” means a Professional Counselor who provides a counseling service involving the application of the principles and procedures of counseling to assess and treat intrapersonal and interpersonal problems and other dysfunctional behaviors and to assist in the overall development and adjustment of those served.
Position Summary:
Services will be provided in a safe, confidential, and therapeutic environment in MVRA’s office building. Services are provided to qualifying adult MaineCare members under Section 65, or to individuals with the ability to pay out of pocket.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, services may be provided via telehealth as needed.
Outpatient Services are professional assessment, counseling and therapeutic medically necessary services provided to individuals that seek such services, to improve functioning, address symptoms, relieve excess stress and promote positive orientation and growth that facilitate increased integrated and independent levels of functioning. Services are delivered through planned interaction involving the use of physiological, psychological, and sociological concepts, techniques and processes of evaluation and intervention.
Services include a Comprehensive Assessment, diagnosis including co-occurring mental health and substance abuse diagnoses, individual therapy, and may include Affected Others and similar professional therapeutic services as part of an integrated Individualized Treatment Plan. Services must focus on the developmental, emotional needs and problems of members and their families as identified in the Individual Treatment Plan.
Coordination of treatment with all included parties (as appropriate to the outpatient role), including PCP’s, or other medical practitioners, and state or other community agencies, is well documented.
Essential Functions and Duties:
- Determine MaineCare eligibility or funding source
- Request and receive authorization for services through KEPRO/Atrezzo system with MaineCare members
- Complete a comprehensive assessment to determine a diagnosis and develop an Individualized Treatment Plan
- Coordinate and schedule regular or intermittent appointments with individuals
- Participate in crisis intervention and resolution services with other providers and care agencies as needed
- Document services provided with SOAP notes (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and Plan)
- Maintain client records
- Maintain client confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
Position Requirements
- Professional license (LCPC, LCPC-C, LCSW, LMSW-cc)
- Minimum one year of experience in community setting as a therapist or counselor
- Knowledge and experience with MaineCare system and requirements
- Client-Centered care
- Compassion toward the needs of clients
Physical Requirements – Modifications to these requirements can be made as necessary
- Standing – you may be required to remain on your feet in an upright position for continuous periods of time without be able to leave the work area
- Walking – this position will require walking throughout the facility in order greet or escort clients
- Carrying – this position will require, on an intermittent basis, carrying objects from one location to another
- Grasping – this position will require regularly picking up or utilizing objects with hands and fingers
- Reaching – this position will require reaching for objects with arms and hands
- Crouching – this position will require you to bend forward at the waist, legs, or spine
