We provide a long-term, value-centered, holistic approach to youth development through residential and community-based programs.
Position Overview:
The Success Coach will support our scholars' academic and professional development. This role entails one-on-one motivational interviewing, tracking SMART goals, leading peer reflection sessions, and aligning students with experiential learning opportunities both within the program and externally, including internships. The Success Coach will also be responsible for delivering the My Road and Accelerating Impact curriculum and logging session notes accurately.
Key Responsibilities:
1. One-on-One Motivational Interviewing:
- Conduct regular one-on-one sessions with scholars to motivate and guide them in their academic and personal growth.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to help scholars identify their goals, strengths, and areas for improvement.
2. Goal Setting and Tracking:
- Collaborate with scholars to set SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals.
- Monitor and track scholars' goals, providing support and adjustments as necessary.
3. Peer Reflection Sessions:
- Lead group reflection sessions to foster peer learning and support.
- Encourage scholars to share their experiences, challenges, and successes with their peers.
4. Experiential Learning Opportunities:
- Identify and align scholars with in-program experiential learning opportunities.
- Connect scholars with external opportunities such as internships, workshops, and other relevant experiences that align with their interests and goals.
5. My Road Curriculum Delivery:
- Deliver the My Road curriculum to scholars, ensuring it is engaging and impactful.
- Customize the curriculum as needed to meet the unique needs of each scholar.
6. Session Documentation:
- Accurately log session notes and maintain detailed records of scholars' activities.
- Ensure that all documentation complies with organizational standards and confidentiality guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience in coaching, counseling, or youth development.
- Strong understanding of motivational interviewing techniques.
- Proven ability to support the setting and track SMART goals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead group sessions and- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to connect with and inspire young people from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of experiential learning opportunities and resources.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Boys Hope Girls Hope.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with high school or college-aged students.
- Familiarity with the New York City education system and local community resources.
- Bilingual proficiency, particularly in Spanish, is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
