Title: Assistant Vice President - Claims Litigation Management

Position Description:
The position will have shared responsibility for our eMaxx Litigation Management (“LM”) program including subrogation, focusing on the review of our most complex general liability and automobile liability claims, including property damage, environmental and bodily injury. This position will align with our third party vendors, including external Defense Counsel and adjusters, to collaborate on resolving all major litigated claims. The Assistant Vice President of Litigation Management will also be responsible for one or more of our eMaxx Litigation attorneys.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversight of all open litigated claim files which meet the severity classification.
- Oversight of all subrogation litigation which includes Workers Compensation.
- Oversight of all investigations related to anticipated or ongoing claims litigation.
- Assist in assigning external Defense Counsel; investigators and experts.
- Review/advise on requests for additions to panel legal defense counsel.
- Oversight management of external defense counsel performance and activities.
- Participate in the claims review process.
- Prepare periodic reports in accordance with program protocol.
- Proactively communicate with senior claim management to provide periodic claim status.
- Monitor claim handling issues and advise General Counsel and Department personnel on implementation of corrective actions.
- Effectively communicates with all parties, including insured’s, insurers, brokers, TPA’s, eMaxx staff and third parties in the claims and LM process.
- Research legal matters related to insurance business to review with claims committee and to identify patterns, trends and/or areas to be addressed.
- Report all appropriate risk information to internal Underwriting Department that would indicate an undesirable risk or excessive risk exposure.
- Develop and provide training to Claims and other departments as requested.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Juris Doctor degree or the equivalent experience per below.
Experience: Five (5) years as a trial attorney in a law firm environment, with at least three (3) years managing attorneys, or paralegals and support staff. Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of contacts, including external Defense Counsel, senior management, and business associates.

Pay: $105,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
