Job Summary
King School is looking for qualified applicants with high school, college or club soccer coaching and playing experience for the Varsity Head Coach position of the highly competitive Girls Soccer Team. Highly motivated candidates possessing strong leadership and communication skills are encouraged to apply. The Head Coach will have responsibility for all aspects of the program, including mentorship and oversight of the assistant and JV coaches, and be the face of King Girls Soccer, providing leadership in the ongoing development, growth, and improvement of the program from grades 6-12. The Head Coach will execute effective teaching and coaching techniques to help the athletes optimize their athletic skill, acumen and attitude, and be expected to build upon the success of the program. In a winning environment, the Head Coach will also constructively collaborate with students and adults in a positive spirit; display and promote sportsmanship and citizenship; and demonstrate a commitment to King’s Virtues and Diversity Policy. The Head Coach will be expected to uphold and promote the mission and philosophy of the King School and the Athletics Department, while following the rules set forth by the Fairchester Athletic Association and the NEPSAC.
Responsibilities and Primary Duties
- Serve as the inspirational leader of their program and as a positive role model for all student-athletes across campus.
- Support social-emotional health and well-being along with skill, leadership, and character development for all student-athletes in program grades 6-12.
- With a winning mindset, develop and maintain an environment of competitive growth, continuous improvement, and process and results-based success.
- Instill a positive program culture of support, respect, inclusion, sportsmanship and citizenship, while working to maintain transparency of program operations through consistent and timely communications with athletes, families, and school community.
- Draw from a strong working knowledge of soccer to plan and facilitate daily, meaningful practices, and execute effective teaching and coaching techniques during competitions.
- Oversee all levels of their program for Varsity, JV and Middle School teams in collaboration with Athletic Department and the King Director of Soccer, supporting hiring, mentoring, and evaluation of coaches at all levels.
- Establish strategic vision for King Girls Soccer, using identification, attraction, and recruitment of prospective student-athletes to support competitive growth and success, providing outreach and guidance to those families in collaboration with Office of Admissions and Dean of Athletics.
- Proactively support and promote classroom, academic, and scholarly efforts of student-athletes.
- Work with College Counseling and Dean of Athletics to support all college athletic opportunities.
- Market and promote King Athletics and their sport at school and in the external community.
- Coordinate and recommend out-of-season and summer activities, training, and conditioning opportunities for student-athletes.
- Utilize and prioritize Athletic Department and school resources, including Athlete Health Services, Athletic Trainers, strength and speed coaches, Student Support Team, sports info and social media, and more to help support and enhance student-athlete experience.
