Job Description: The primary purpose of the ADON is to assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Department in accordance will all applicable standards and company guidelines, with the utmost goal of ensuring that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Department in accordance with the current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern our facility.
- Assist in developing methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services to ensure the continuity of residents' total regiment of care.
- Participate in developing, implementing, and periodically updating the resident's written discharge plan.
- Assist the resident and Discharge Planning Coordinator in planning the nursing services portion of the resident's discharge plan.
- Assist the Director in determining and fulfilling the staffing needs of the Nursing Department.
- Ensure all nursing personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards.
- Participate in developing, planning, scheduling, and conducting in-service training classes that provide instructions on "how to do the job" and ensure a well-educated department.
- Participate in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the infection control program for monitoring communicable and/or infectious diseases among residents and personnel.
- Participate in the interviewing and selection of residents for admission to the facility.
- Provide nursing care as necessary.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the entire facility.
Experience and Specific Requirements
- Must be a licensed RN, BSN preferred.
- Must have, as a minimum, two years' experience in SNF/LTC facilities.
- Minimum one year experience in nurse management in SNF/LTC preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to have difficult conversations while maintaining compassion.
- Must be self-motivated and have excellent follow-through.
- Have the ability to multi-task and keep a calm demeanor in chaotic situations.
- Must be able to maintain confidential information.
- Be a champion of positivity and high morale.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.'
