Summary
Central Union Church is looking to hire a reliable, collaborative, creative, and tech-literate self-starter to oversee audio/visual production for campus worship services and events,. The Audio/Video Technician will help the church fulfill its mission and vision by using an assortment of audio/visual tools and skills to enhance and promote the message and mission of the church. The schedule has flexible aspects and may call for hours to be worked on different days/times from week to week. There is room for growth in the position depending on the individual and their ability to complete the essential duties. Church experience and background are NOT necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities AUDIO/VISUAL PRODUCTION
1. Set up, operate, break down, and secure audio/visual equipment for in-person/virtual/hybrid events as needed. (Equipment includes sound mixers, microphones, computers, projectors, cameras. Events include weekly Sunday worship services, special services like Christmas and Easter, weddings, funerals/memorials, concerts, programs, meetings, parties, etc.)
a. Work to ensure the best possible audio/visual aspects for events through proper and punctual setup and operation of church equipment. Perform necessary checks on the environment and equipment for safety and functionality, make audio/visual adjustments during an event as needed.
b. Evaluate events in post-production to address any issues that arose during the event and note improvements to be made.
2. Coordinate and communicate with other staff members, clients, vendors to test and provide equipment and tour facilities as needed and address audio/visual requests and concerns in a timely manner.
3. Manage personal schedule of services and events requiring audio/visual needs. Assess and communicate what audio/visual services can be provided (or not).
4. Maintain, inventory, and store all audio/visual equipment. Coordinate purchasing, testing, installation, troubleshooting, and repair as needed.
5. Recruit, train, schedule and supervise a team of volunteers who will assist with audio/visual tasks.
6. In addition to insuring that all audio and visual needs for services/events are ready, may also be a requested to assist in the general set up, which mainly involves the moving/set up of tables and chairs.

7. Be present during scheduled office hours (flexible) and coordinate with staff members to provide audio/visual coverage for scheduled events, which will include some days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications The following basic requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities:
- Able to operate audio/visual equipment, including sound mixers, microphones, cables, cameras, computers, etc. (Training on church equipment will be provided.)
- Able to work on Sunday mornings and for special church services scheduled in advance (i.e. Christmas Eve, Christmas, Easter). Able to work scheduled events throughout the week (Weekdays, weekends, evenings) as needed, with prior notification.
- Able to supervise a team of volunteers, who can independently operate most of the AV equipment.
- Must successfully pass a post-offer background screening.
Education and/or Experience
1. Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience. A degree or certificate in media/film, sound engineering, and/or audio/visual production is a plus.
2. Professional audio/visual technical experience in a live setting with production management is highly desirable.
3. Experience with video live-streaming is a plus.
Work Environment and Physical Demands. As the position deals with audio/visual aspects, sight and hearing are necessary qualities. Must be able to transport relevant equipment, weighing up to 20 pounds, to a variety of locations. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Should be able to commute to the different work sites (Honolulu and Windward campus).
