Position Overview: Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Director of Nursing (DON) to join our team on a temporary contract basis in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in healthcare, particularly within a clinical setting, coupled with extensive management experience. This role requires compliance with Joint Commission standards, including the ability to pass a background check and a 10-panel drug screen.
Key Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years in healthcare within a clinical setting, with at least 5 years in a management role.
- Licensure: Licensed Nursing Home Administrator in the State of Texas, with at least 2 years of experience in a skilled nursing home environment.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of reimbursement regulations, nursing practices and procedures, and laws, regulations, and guidelines related to long-term care administration.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Patient Care Management: Monitor and direct patient care activities to ensure the highest quality of care. Direct clinical and non-clinical personnel, review and approve new hires, establish performance standards and appraisals, identify departmental needs, and provide necessary resources. Remain accessible and visible to staff, recognize staff achievements, and provide ongoing performance feedback.
- Strategic Planning: Establish the scope of service and goals for the department. Develop and implement a strategic plan, stay updated on new developments in the field, and incorporate relevant changes into departmental policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and standards, and conduct department promotional activities.
- Financial Oversight: Ensure that revenue, expenses, contribution margin, and FTEs meet or exceed budgetary expectations. Prepare and submit budgets and related reports, accurately forecast expenses, and take corrective action to address negative variances. Appropriately propose capital budget items.
- Staff Development: Promote professional growth and development by ensuring mandatory and continuing education requirements are met. Support staff training needs through coordination with the Education department, and contribute to department-based goals. Serve as a preceptor, mentor, and resource for less experienced staff.
