The Albany County Alternate Public Defender is seeking a NYS barred attorney for its Family Court Office. The ideal candidate must be committed to indigent defense, and be interested in New York State Family Court practice.

Schedule: Monday – Friday
Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Salary Range: $92,797-$100,343

Standard Responsibilities:
- Appear in Family Court and Integrated Domestic Violence Court to represent Alternate Public Defender clients.
Full Performance, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:
- Knowledge of the Family Court Act and experience in litigation, legal principals, terminology and procedures;
- Possess a demonstrated commitment to criminal justice, family court matters, indigent defense;
- High level of organizational and administrative skills required to handle a challenging caseload;
- Ability to engage in purposeful dialogue with clients and others;
- Ability to effectively negotiate with County Attorneys and CPS workers;
- Ability to interact with CPS workers, other Defense Attorneys, Judges, and Probation officers
- Ability to interface with community based treatment, educational, vocational, and other programs;
- Excellent oral communication skills, ability to write persuasively, and strong computer skills.
- Thorough knowledge in such areas as planning, organizing, coordinating, motivating and controlling the work force;
Minimum Qualifications:
Attorney with a New York State bar admission (or ability to waive into New York State from another jurisdiction).
