SUMMARY OF POSITION
As Project Engineer, you will create and execute system design projects from conceptualization to completion, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations. Project Engineers collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical designers, technicians, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of medium voltage systems within larger projects.
JOB DUTIES
Essential Job Duties
- Coordinates the design, development, scheduling, resource allocation, execution and closeout of assigned Engineering projects for the electrical system at Fort Liberty.
- Develops estimates and tracks expenses for assigned projects.
- Ensures that expenses are assigned to the proper work orders and tracks expenses versus the original estimate for budget versus actual.
- Coordinates with Engineering staff, other departments, and contractors to produce deliverables required by the project are on-time and as planned.
- Utilizes a proactive control process to manage changes in project requirements and/or scope.
- Attends project planning meetings with government or other end-users to plan, design, and collaborate on project scopes.
Other Job Duties/Functions
- All employees are assigned responsibilities in our System Restoration Plan and are required to work during major events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledgeable in electrical engineering principles, practices and methods, environmental regulations, engineering project management methods, workplace safety, budgeting, contractor supervision and personnel management.
- Works well in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects.
- Competent in handling simultaneously occurring tasks and smaller projects.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- All employees must be available to work during major events as part of our System Restoration Plan
- A valid NC driver’s license is required throughout employment.
Education and Experience:
- Electrical Engineer (B.S. Electrical Engineering) or Professional Engineer.
- Five (5) to seven (7) years of project engineer experience and/or training with a strong background in electrical overhead and underground construction.
- Trained in electrical utility safety.
- Experience with Partner, WindMil or similar programs.
Physical Requirements:
- Lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally frequently.
- Majority of time requires sitting, bending at neck, waist, legs, and arms; twisting body; and changing positions at will. Occasional driving, standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching and stooping.
- Requires repetitive motions with hands and fingers such as keyboarding, use of telephones, cell phones, etc.
- Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Seven plus (7+) years of project engineer experience and/or training with a strong background in electrical overhead and underground construction
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Office setting 90% of the time. 10% of the time work outdoors, in a warehouse or maintenance environment (dust, uneven surfaces and all types of weather and temperature variations).
- Work requires close attention to detail and accuracy and is varied in nature with regular interruptions.
- Able to work during adverse weather conditions. Subject to being called in to work major outages.
