Career Advisor
1. Evaluate post-secondary students’ abilities and interests for post-graduate careers through aptitude assessments and critically review written and digital materials, including resumes, curriculum vitas, cover letters, and personal statements
2. Assist post-secondary students with reflecting on self-assessments and their unique major/career discernment process while evaluating progress using data analytics, post-secondary student feedback, and job placement metrics
3. Use of wide-discretion in building professional relationships with alumni and effectively track graduate outcomes using database software and work closely with academic departments and administrative offices to facilitate collaborative and multifaceted career-driven programming focused on the needs of liberal arts students
4. Provide programming and advising for graduate school and fellowship application processes and preparation, and conduct mock interviews and advise on complex job search and interview strategies
5. Develop, support, and participate in collaborative and advanced programming initiatives within the Center for Global and Career Education and apply knowledge of and share insights into industry areas of interest to students and other pertinent trends and innovations through market research
6. Participate in Earlham College projects and serve on various college committees while leading professional development workshops and representing Earlham College and the Center for Global and Career Education at professional conferences
A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Social Relations, Counseling, or Similar Field of Study is required (a Foreign Educational Equivalent is acceptable). Also required is 24 months of experience as an Admissions Counselor or Academic Advisor. This position requires only incidental domestic and international travel to attend conferences.
