Medical Assistant – Job Description
Jeffrey Alper MD PA is a multi-practitioner rheumatology practice with 2 locations in Naples East and North Naples. We are looking for a compassionate , patient focused medical assistant that will join our team in comprehensive patient care and a positive experience to our patients during their visit. Attention to detail, outstanding customer service , ability to prioritize tasks, reliability , good communication skills and a good bedside manners are key for this position.
Responsibilities
- Escorts patients to exam rooms
- Performs intake with patients (including medical and other relevant history), documents vital signs and current medications.
- Prepares and assists with injections/aspirations and other ultrasound guided procedures.
- Completes all orders for imaging, therapy, surgery, specialty medication and DME.
- Provides medication administration training to patients to increase level of comfort with self-administration of DMARD’s , biologics or other therapeutic agents .
- Educates patients on proper use of DME, surgical precautions and plan of care.
- Cleans exam rooms and keep exam rooms stocked with supplies.
- Serves as liaison between patient and physician, answers patient phone calls at end of business day
- Document’s communication exchanges with patient on chart
- Other duties as assigned.
- Perform blood draws ( may be needed but currently not performing in -office draws)
- Restock rooms at the end of each day, check biohazards and dispose of it as needed.
- Manage inventory of medical supplies and equip exam rooms with appropriate supplies.
Qualifications for Medical Assistant
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited medical assistance certification program preferred
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner at all times
- Must be detail-oriented and highly organized
- Experience with IM and subcutaneous medication administration preferred
- Team player
- Rheumatology experience a plus
- Bilingual ( English & Spanish preferred )
- Firm grasp on medical practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies
- Knowledge of patient care and examination procedures
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
