CLINICAL COORDINATOR
Physical Therapist Assistant Program
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate of a PT or PTA program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) or equivalent.
- Current, unrestricted California PT or PTA license.
- Minimum of three years of full-time post-licensure experience in physical therapy (35 hours/week or equivalent).
- At least two years of experience in one of the following areas:
- Serving as a Center Coordinator of Clinical Education (CCCE) or Clinical Instructor (CI).
- Teaching, curriculum development, and administration in a PT or PTA program.
Travel
- Travel is an expectation and requirement of the position. Site visits to clinical locations are often required to assess the suitability if the site and to monitor students’ performance. Visits to sites may be initiated by the site or the Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE)
Coordination of Clinical Placement
- Seeking a coordinator for the Physical Therapist Assistant Program to arrange and manage externships for students. Responsibilities include training and supporting clinical preceptors, providing student orientation, and ensuring all documentation is completed before externships begin. The role involves coordinating and tracking externship requirements, establishing and evaluating externship sites, maintaining site contracts, and handling affiliation agreements. The coordinator will also conduct orientation workshops, monthly site visits, and manage communication with students and employers. Additionally, the position requires maintaining accurate records in collaboration with the Registrar, managing the educational process during externships, and developing strategies to sustain clinical relationships. Other duties as directed by the Program Director.
SUPERVISION
- The Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE) is supervised by the Program Director.
