Qualifications:
Experience: This position requires a minimum of one year experience working with adolescents in a child care agency, child placement agency or educational setting, or relevant life experience such as parenting, or other experiences related to child care.
Additional Requirements: Full-time Youth Development Worker must complete thirty-two hours of training during the first year of employment and twenty-four hours per year thereafter. They also must not possess a criminal history, a history of abuse/neglect, or a negative driving record.
Responsibilities:
The Youth Development Worker is primarily responsible for providing day-to-day supervision and therapeutic intervention for program youth. This care and intervention includes, but is not limited to:
- Attending and participating in Treatment Team meetings and trainings
- Attending and participating in joint inter-agency meetings
- Facilitating and supervising group activities, one-on-one encounters, and timeouts
- Fulfilling all certifications and trainings requirements, including degree preparation, professional licensure, and CPR/First Aid training
- Maintaining a safe environment by being knowledgeable about safety policies and procedures, preparing meals as outlined, cleaning all areas of the facility (including trash removal), doing laundry as needed, etc.
- Implementing established treatment plans for youth
- Supervision of youth at all times
- Planning and facilitating group activities
- Completing substance testing
- Driving vans for youth pick up, drop off, and outings
- Completing all required paperwork in a timely manner, including: Communication Log, Shift Progress Notes & Point Sheets, Medication Log, Community Service Log, Drill Log, and Incident Reports
- Assisting youth in preparing their presentations to the Treatment Team
- Administering medications and logging them as appropriate
- Communicating appropriately and effectively with colleagues and referral sources regarding youth behavior, needs, and program progress
- Adhering to Federal Rules of Confidentiality for discussion of youth program participation
- Ensuring youth safety through knowledge of fire and other disaster preparations and responses and completing drills as scheduled
- Arranging for van maintenance and maintaining van log
- Completing other duties as assigned by the Program Director
- Youth Development Workers are expected to maintain professional standing in all relationships and in the community when representing the Isabella County Day Treatment Program.
