Working under the general supervision of Principal Investigators, and in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures, conducts routine and non-routine experiments at a professional level. Laboratory work, analysis of data using statistical techniques. May perform literature searches and reagent procurement under the direction of supervisor. Responsible for training new lab personnel in lab procedures.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for organization and processing of biologic specimens from human and animal studies.
- Maintain humanized and mouse mast cell cultures.
- Process biological specimens for generation of primary cell lines and maintenance and organization of frozen stocks.
- Extract RNA, DNA and protein
- Perform quantitative PCR, Western Blot, ELISA assays, mast cells activation and desensitization
- Perform genotyping on human and mouse DNA samples
- Additional responsibilities at the PI’s discretion
Qualifications
- The individual must have a Bachelor’s degree and a background in Biology or related field and with at least one year of research experience. The individual must have good reasoning and verbal skills.
- 1 year experience
- The individual must be good at problem-solving and be able to keep an accurate, clear, and up-to-date lab notebook.
