Position Summary: Under the direction of the Cemetery Manager. The Family Service Counselor is accountable for serving client families by making at-need cemetery arrangements and selling pre-need arrangements. The Family Service Counselor serves families by providing exemplary personalized service and care for families. Additionally, the Family Service Counselor is required to make follow-up calls in a pro-active manner to provide assistance to families, secure additional sales and generate referrals.

Essential Job Functions:
· Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
· Meets with client families on a pre-need/at-need basis to ensure that they are presented with all options pertaining to interment, cemetery property, and related
merchandise and services.
- Establishes a professional relationship with client families to ensure that all needs are being met.
- Represents the company in a professional and caring manner, maintaining a professional personal appearance and employing honesty, integrity, and ethical
methods of performing duties.
- Attends services and visitations for client families whenever possible to foster relationships, ensures excellent service, and develops potential referrals.
- Responsible for meeting monthly and quarterly Pre-Need sales goals.
- Execute sales of property, commodities, and interment services to families at time of need.
- Prepares for all appointments and performs all procedures with professionalism and attention to detail.
- Effectively communicate with mortuaries and families via personal contact, telephone, and online; both in office and/or in home, as necessary.
- Follows through on all Contracts, Memorial Orders, customer concerns and requests.
- Builds trust-based relationships to earn the right to ask for referrals.
- Earns the right to gain referrals to offer protection to protect family members, family’s relatives and friends, by educating them on the benefits of pre-planning.
- Promote and preserve the integrity and reputation of Cypress Hill Memorial Park and its affiliated Companies.
- Enhance the pre-need sales program through leads generated from at-need sales and other services or events.
- Generate add-on sales; property, commodities and/or service items when applicable.
- Develop a professional and respectful rapport with area mortuaries, memorial manufacturers, and vendors.
- Maintain good relations with internal and external customers at Cypress Hill Memorial Park Cemetery and its affiliated companies.
- Holds self-accountable for prospecting.
- Maintains and tracks activity levels in CRM System and Appointment Plus.
Experience and Education:
· Two to five years of customer service or sales industry experience High School Diploma
· Associate degree Preferred
Special Skills:
· Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required
· Operate PC with excellent MSOffice software skills.
· Knowledge of CRM systems and other operating platforms utilized by the company such as Zoom, DocuSign, etc.
· Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
· Strong interpersonal relations skills and excellent customer service skills Ability to work independently and to be detail minded.
· Ability to work a flex schedule including evenings, weekends, and some holidays Ability to multi-task and set priorities.
High level of comprehension and integrity
Licenses:
· Ability to obtain a Sales License by the State of Calif. Dept. of Consumer Affairs, Cemetery & Funeral Division
· Hold a current state issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Working Environment:
· Work seated at a workstation in a carpeted, air-conditioned/heated office environment where the noise volume from equipment and coworkers is moderate, and with continual interruptions.
· Ability to drive frequently or walk on uneven ground, slopes, or pavement. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands or fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Physical Requirements:
- Work seated for prolonged periods of time; must have the energy, stamina, and personality to meet with families.
- Able to see detail and have good hand-eye coordination to work with and manipulate data on computer.
- Adhere to Guidance of Housekeeping and Safety
Qualifications
· High School Graduate or Equivalent
· Three Years experience in direct contact with the public in sales
· Good, oral, written, and interpersonal skills
· Dependable transportation to conduct pre-need sales
· Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
· Ability to read and interpret Company policies, procedures, contracts, pricing structures, etc.
· Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word and Excel.
· Demonstrated success developing sales leads and referrals.
· Demonstrated presentation skills.
· Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.
· Capable of working both independently and as a team member; results oriented; self-starter.
· Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
· Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays as necessary.
· Related experience as a Family Service Counselor.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
