Job Overview: We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented graphics specialist/technical writer with design experience to join our eCommerce team. As a content designer/technical writer associate, you will be responsible for creating enhanced visual content for various marketplaces as well as creating clear, concise, and user-friendly line drawings and instruction manuals for a variety of products we sell.
Role Responsibilities:
- Create visually appealing, informative enhanced visual/benefit-driven content to help sell our products.
- Present complex technical information in a clear and accessible manner, using language that is easy for the average consumer to understand, avoiding jargon and technical terms whenever possible.
- Write comprehensive instruction manuals for a diverse range of products, including water fountains, furniture, electronics, appliances, and many other consumer goods, while ensuring accuracy and clarity.
- Conduct thorough research on each product to fully understand its features, functionalities, and usage requirements.
- Collaborate with designers and illustrators to create visual aids, such as diagrams, charts, and step-by-step illustrations, to complement written instructions and enhance comprehension.
- Read product reviews to gather feedback on the usability and effectiveness of instruction manuals, and incorporate insights gained into future revisions.
- Periodically review and update existing instruction manuals to reflect product updates, feature enhancements, or changes in best practices.
- Ensure that all instruction manuals comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety guidelines.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A degree or are currently pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, Technical Writing, Computer Science or related fields.
- Minimum of 2 years experience with the Adobe Creative Suite; emphasis with Illustrator and InDesign, Photoshop preferred.
- Relocation to Eau Claire, WI
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to convey complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.
- Proficiency in using documentation tools and software, such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Creative Suite, or Confluence.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and synthesize information from multiple sources.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
- Strong graphic design skills, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt to changes in priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
