General Information:
This position is to provide childcare during Destination Church's Sunday and Wednesday night small groups! This gives parents an opportunity to attend a group, and our Sunday Morning Volunteer Team the ability to do the same.
Starting Pay rate is $20.00 an hour and with a flexible schedule where you can choose either one night or both nights to work, depending on availability and number of kids attending.
Available times include:
- Sunday: 5:10pm - 8:30pm
- Wednesday: 6:10pm - 8:30pm

DC Kid’s Childcare Staff
Job Responsibility:
- The DC Kids Childcare Staff will be prompt and arrive at the scheduled, or approved, time for nursery childcare.
- The DC Kids Childcare Staff will ensure a safe and secure environment for the children of Destination Church.
- The DC Kids Childcare Staff welcome and engage the parents of the children under their care, ensuring them that their child will be well cared for.
- The DC Kids Childcare Staff will provide care, oversight, and guidance for the children of Destination Church.
- The DC Kids Childcare Staff will engage the children in play, learning, and cooperation while under their care.
Organizational Relationship:
The DC Kids Childcare Staff will report to the Children’s Pastor and/or the Childcare Coordinator for administrative, strategic, and spiritual guidance. They will provide evaluation, oversight, and encouragement to the DC Kid’s Childcare Staff. The DC Kid’s Childcare Staff will work closely with the Children’s Pastor, Childcare Coordinator, and parents of Destination Church.
Supervision:
The three responsibilities listed below are in order of importance, and if these responsibilities are not being met by the DC Kids Childcare Staff the DC Kids Childcare Coordinator or Children’s Pastor will be responsible to remind and redirect the Childcare Staff team.
Regarding the most important responsibility, Safety, each Childcare Staff will be afforded one verbal reminder and one written warning, followed by a temporary suspension from serving and re-evaluation. For Care, Childcare Staff will be afforded two verbal reminders, two written warnings, and then a temporary suspension and re-evaluation. In regards to engagement Childcare Staff will be afforded three verbal reminders and three written warnings, followed by a temporary suspension and re-evaluation.
The Primary Task:
The DC Kids Childcare Staff will be responsible for caring for, leading, encouraging, and watching the children of Destination Church. They will follow Destination Church’s policies to ensure that the children under their care are safe, loved, and enjoying their time under the Childcare Staff’s care.
Responsibilities:
Safety
- Every child must be provided with a safe and secure environment.
- The DC Kids Childcare Staff will be prompt and arrive at their scheduled area of service at the agreed upon time. If they are going to be late, or if they are unavailable for their scheduled day, they will inform the Children’s Pastor and/or Preschool Coordinator.
- The DC Kids Childcare Staff will retain proper state ratios of teachers to children in every classroom. If another Dream Team Member is needed to maintain proper ratios, contact the Service Leader
- The DC Kids Childcare Staff will follow all check-in and check-out procedures. Ensuring that every child is in their proper room, and that every child leaves with an approved pickup from their household.
- The DC Kids Childcare Staff will consistently watch the children under their care. CELLULAR DEVICES ARE PROHIBITED from being used while watching the children. If an emergency is needed, the Childcare Staff will contact the Childcare Coordinator so that they may step out of the room and use their device.
- The DC Kids Childcare Staff will be familiar with and be prepared to take the proper steps for emergency protocols in each room that they work in. As well as caring and filling out accident reports for children who are injured under their care.
- The DC Kids Childcare Staff will ensure that no child is left alone with another adult or Dream Team Member. TWO Team Members must be present for all bathroom breaks. If the Nursery Staff needs to use the facilities, he or she will contact the Service Leader in order to be relieved.
Care
- The DC Kids Childcare Staff will care for every child under their guidance. The will refrain from speaking harshly to the children, and will use positive reinforcement to encourage proper engagement and safety.
- CORPORAL PUNISHMENT IS PROHIBITED. If a child becomes unruly and unresponsive to correction, the Nursery Staff will contact the Service Leader to handle the situation.
- If necessary, Childcare Staff will have the parents fill out a Nursery Care Card to ensure proper care of infants.
- The DC Kids Childcare Staff will be familiar with, and know DC Kids policies and procedures for caring for infants, including diaper changing policies, feeding policies, and safe practices.
- If a child is distressed due to the parents leaving, or due to an injury, the Childcare Staff will attempt to console the child. If they are unable console the child, contact the Service Leader so that the parents may be contacted.
- The DC Kids Childcare Staff will ensure that children with allergies are removed from any substance that they are allergic to. The Childcare Staff may contact the Service Leader if assistance is needed.
Engagement
- The DC Kids Childcare Staff will actively welcome parents and children, encouraging the parent that their child will be safe and encouraging the child that they will have fun while under their care.
- The DC Kids Childcare Staff will be engaged with the children of Destination Church, playing with them and/or encouraging them in their relationships with the other children.
- If an activity, craft, or video is encouraged during the children’s visit, the Childcare Staff will participate, teach, and assist the children during the activity, encouraging engagement and participation. If the Childcare Staff wishes to create a game, activity, or craft during their stay, please inform the Children’s Pastor or Service Leader for approval.

Attendance at required meetings unless excused by the Children’s or Connection’s Pastor, such as:

- Have a Completed Background Check on file.
- Have completed training concerning Child Abuse and Neglect
- Be familiar, and up-to-date, with Destination Church’s policies and procedures regarding working with children.
