SALARY RANGE: $54,560 - $66,385
Ad Valorem - 2.40 parish property (ad valorem) tax mills are dedicated to employee salaries. The annual receipts from this tax are distributed to employees twice a year, one-half in January and one-half in June. The amount of each employee’s supplement is the employee’s salary multiplied by the annual percentage (computed each year based on actual tax revenues).

JOB GOAL: To be responsible for performing activities within the school and community as detailed in the Performance Responsibilities below, in coordination with and under the guidance of the school system’s Department of Education.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
PREVENTION SERVICES PROGRAM SPECIALIST:
- Assists in the planning and implementation of a comprehensive program of drug prevention, education, and intervention in parish schools, grades K-12.

Organizes, implements and monitors new research-based curricula efforts at parish schools, as recommended by the Metropolitan Human Services District.

Supports teacher training in drug education curricula, utilizing, as appropriate, other training agencies, individuals and institutions for this purpose.

Records student data weekly on the state PMIS system, analyzes student data on curriculum completion, and monitors student improvement in risk and protective factors; providing periodical updates to school administration and the school board, as well as the Metropolitan Human Services District.

Monitors the level of teacher implementation and student participation in existing drug education programs; measures effectiveness of prevention curricula long term.

Assists in the planning and implementation of community drug-awareness activities, and develops new parental awareness and prevention programs.

Develops working relationships with the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office, Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, and similar social agencies.
