The purpose of this position is to assist with the entry, checking, and validation of LINK/NCIC entries and to perform clerical duties for the Police Department as assigned. Duties and responsibilities include serving as the Bowling Green Police Department’s Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC), communicating effectively with dispatchers, officers, other police agencies, and others as required; and executing clerical tasks such as maintaining records and files through computer database entries as assigned.
Duties: Ensures all requirements associated with the NCIC/LINK terminal are followed and that the proper paperwork is completed and filled in accordance with auditing requirements; Performs data entry or inquiries into NCIC/LINK and/or in-house computer; inquires, enters, modifies, locates, maintains, and saves files in a database; initiates or responds to NCIC/LINK teletypes and hit confirmations; performs monthly validations by retrieving, checking, modifying, clearing or refilling case records; assists with audit preparations as needed; Performs criminal history checks as requested; Processes reports for stolen vehicles, articles, property, and guns, as well as wanted and missing persons, warrants, and summons by receiving, checking, logging, entering into the computer database, filing, and maintaining all related records; provides various information from computer database as requested by police officers; handles and must keep confidential sensitive information.; Processes emergency protection and domestic violence orders by receiving, checking, logging, entering into the computer database, filing, and maintaining all related records; Prepares briefing sheets; runs reports as requested; Revises and updates CJIS procedures for the Communications Division manual and updates resource materials as needed; Performs general clerical duties such as replenishing various supplies and forms; making copies; maintaining copy machines and printers; forwarding information to various departments; filing entry packets, teletypes, and other records; and clearing and destroying files when needed; Attends training courses and meetings as offered by the Department or as required to maintain certification; remains informed of departmental operations.
Requirements: A High School diploma (or GED) is required (vocational/technical diploma preferred), with one to two years of clerical and computer experience. Must be state certified in NCIC/LINK within six months of hire and must maintain certification.
Salary: G5; $50,565; full benefits package
Work Hours: Full-time, 40 hours, Monday-Friday, 8 hours per day
