Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Prep/Line Cook to join our culinary team. The Prep/Line Cook will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen, preparing ingredients, assembling dishes, and maintaining high standards of food quality and consistency.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, slicing, and dicing as directed by the head chef or kitchen manager.
- Assist in the preparation of meats, poultry, seafood, and vegetables for grilling, smoking, and other cooking methods.
- Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies and ingredients.
- Follow recipes, portion control guidelines, and presentation specifications to ensure consistency and quality in all dishes.
- Operate kitchen equipment such as grills, smokers, fryers, and ovens safely and efficiently.
- Coordinate with other kitchen team members to ensure timely and accurate order preparation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including storage areas, refrigerators, and kitchen equipment.
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation procedures, including proper handling and storage of food products.
- Assist with inventory management, including monitoring stock levels and notifying management of any shortages or discrepancies.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop and refine menu items and recipes as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a prep cook, line cook, or similar role in a fast-paced kitchen environment, preferably in a barbecue or grill restaurant.
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques, food safety principles, and sanitation standards.
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a high-volume setting, while maintaining a positive attitude and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with kitchen staff and management.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Culinary degree or relevant certification is a plus, but not required.
