We are a local CPA firm located in Long Beach, California. We have been in business for over 35 years. Our current staff consist of 2 CPAs, 3 accountants, 1 bookkeeper and 3 administrative support staff.
The Firm’s client base is diverse. We service small to mid-size business clients and their owners in a variety of industries. To support the business clients’ income tax needs, our Firm analyzes business accounting and performs light bookkeeping. The Firm also has a significant individual income tax practice.
Tax projections and tax planning is a year-round activity and is extensive at the end of the year.
The CPA Tax Manager will operate in the following functions:
Income tax compliance and audits
● Business, individual, fiduciary, and non-profit income tax returns
● In charge of reviewing tax returns prepared by accounting staff
● Prepare some advanced income tax returns
● Review business financial statements for income tax purposes
● Review responses to government tax notices
● Lead accounting team in tax audit representation
Tax planning and research
● Prepare income tax projections and year-end tax plans
● Entity choice consultations
● Retirement plan choice consultations
● Perform analytical tax research on advanced issues
● Review tax research prepared by staff
● Multi-state tax issues
● Track tax law changes and keep staff informed
● Mergers and acquisitions
● Counsel clients on tax issues related to mergers and acquisitions
Client relationships
● Handle client relationships. Manager will have direct communication with clients
● Business development with existing clients and prospects
Mentoring and training of accounting staff
● Mentor staff on career development
● Direct staff on technical training and education
● Supervision of staff on a daily basis
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA certification required
- Strong experience in tax accounting and financial concepts
- Proficiency in GAAP and tax regulations
- Solid understanding of double entry bookkeeping and financial statement preparation
- Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks and Quicken
- Knowledge of regulatory reporting and balance sheet reconciliation
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel for financial report writing and interpretation
- Ability to work with Bloomberg for financial analysis
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Prior experience in public accounting or corporate accounting is a plus

Pay: $145,000.00 - $220,000.00 per year
