Position Summary
IIA Fire Department Testing, a leading company in the fire safety industry, is looking for full-time General Laborers to join our Portland, Maine team immediately as Fire Equipment Technicians. We provide an essential service testing fire equipment for fire departments at their locations.
This is a general labor position with no previous experience required. All training will be done on-site. Starting hourly rate is $23.00/hour. Meals and lodging are covered by the company when traveling out of state. A $500 retention bonus will be paid after 60 days of successful employment.
Work is during the months of April through November.

Responsibilities*
Test and inspect every inch of fire hose by :
- Removing all hose from fire apparatus and racks
- Performing required recordings and tests
- Repacking hoses to the proper place
- Test & Inspect other fire equipment on fire apparatus as needed

Qualifications*
- Reliable transportation to work
- Be able to pass a drug test and background check
- Hard working and very dependable

Working Conditions*
- Work is Monday-Friday and occasionally Saturday
- Typical week consists of 40+ hours (Average of 50 hours/week)
- Occasional work day can be 12+ hours; Shift is not over until job is completed
- Daily pick-up is 7:30 am at Park and Ride in South Portland
- Transportation to work site via company vehicle
- Occasional work trip out of state required for up to 1 week (hotel and food provided by company)
- Steel toe work boots required and work shirts supplied by company

Physical Requirements*
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Frequently required to walk and bend over.
- Must be able to work outside is various conditions (light rain, heat, cold, etc.)
