What you can expect in this role:
- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections, testing, and maintenance on generators to identify and address potential issues before they escalate. This may involve checking oil levels, filters, cooling systems, and electrical components.
- Repairs and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair generator malfunctions and electrical system issues. Technicians must be skilled in troubleshooting various generator types and resolving problems efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Load Testing: Perform load testing to ensure that the generator can handle the expected electrical load. This helps verify the generator's reliability during power outages or peak demand periods.
- Fuel Management: Monitor and manage the fuel supply for generators to ensure they have an adequate fuel source, whether it's natural gas or propane. This includes fuel quality control, fuel level monitoring, and managing fuel storage.
- Record Keeping and Documentation: Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and tests conducted on generators. Proper documentation helps track the generator's performance and compliance with regulatory requirements.
What skills/experience you'll need to be considered for this role:
- 2-5 Years of Experience: A minimum two-five years of experience in residential service work is heavily preferred.
- Generator Experience: Any experience with generators and/or a Generac Certification is heavily preferred and will result in higher compensation.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in inspecting structures, locating and marking positions of electrical and plumbing systems, building reliable plumbing and electrical systems, wiring, and troubleshooting. The ability to perform and plan work, order materials with minimal supervision is a must.
- Customer Satisfaction: Ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction throughout the customer lifecycle.
- Excellent Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
