Program Assistant
8:45a-1:15p Monday-Thursday (April-October) 8:45a-1:15p Monday- Friday (Cold Weather Shelter Season)
The Program Assistant will be responsible for supporting the Day Resource and Client Assistance programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:·
- Data entry into the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS)
- Meet with crisis clients and obtain all crisis information as well as update clients with crisis decisions
- Assist clients with appropriate community referrals and resources
- Process mail daily
- Work the front desk as needed
- Answer phones and assist callers
- Create and maintain client files
- Receive in-kind donations and put them away
- Keep supply of all organization forms updated and stocked
- Assist with special events and fundraising
- Purchase and pick up supplies as needed
- Schedule and oversee work of maintenance vendors as needed
- Oversee shower and laundry services as needed
- Assist staff to accomplish the work of the organization

Job Qualifications:
- Experience/comfort working with complex issues, such as homelessness, housing instability, mental illness, and/or substance misuse
- An understanding of and respect for the diversity within a community
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in using Microsoft Office, data entry, and multi-line phone system
- Ability to communicate effectively in a personable and professional manner
- Initiative and ability to accept new challenges and assignments
- Able to maintain confidentiality and process sensitive information
- Must have car and valid driver’s license

Physical Demands

Expected hours: 18 – 22.5 per week
