Shipping and Receiving Manager Job Duties
Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy.
Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, or record keeping purposes, and notify management if there are any discrepancies.
Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials. Draft work orders according to customer PO requirements, industry specifications, drawings, or company internal procedures.
Confer or correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications.
Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using hand tools, power tools, or postage meter.
Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials. Schedule all daily shipments and other orders as needed by customers.
Deliver or route materials to departments using palletjack, handtruck, forklift, or manually.
Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.
Determine shipping methods, routes, or rates for materials to be shipped.
Compute amounts, such as space available, shipping, storage, or demurrage charges.
Compare shipping routes or methods to determine which are most efficient.
Operate forklift pursuant to all safety regulations and procedures. Involves inspection and preventative maintenance ability.
Perform various forms of inspection like receipt inspection, conformity to specifications, packaging inspection, shipping inspection etc. and follow all company policies and procedures.
Schedule various forms of shipments with different freight carriers. Be able to prepare all documents like a BOL or shipping manifest.
Schedule and ship through UPS, USPS, and fedex carriers.
Adhere to all company procedures, work instructions, and policies, and effectively communicate with various departments and management.
Punctuality, timeliness, and attention to detail required
Effectively manage subordinates to perform tasks efficiently and timely to meet deadlines.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.00 - $18.00 per hour
