St. Jardim is looking to expand our kitchen team. We are looking for a strong lead line cook to join our small, but talented team. The ideal candidate will be someone with a solid cooking background that is looking to continue learning in an environment that promotes creative freedom.
Role Description
The lead line cook will assist the Executive Chef and Sous Chef with the running and management of the kitchen. This candidate will be able to work well under pressure, execute a range of daily tasks; ensure the kitchen produces exemplary food while simultaneously fostering a healthy, happy work environment. Tight, focused, ingredient-drive menu pairing with an extensive natural wine list in a small but busy corner location in the West Village.
Schedule Requirement:
Full time, 5 days per week with 2 consecutive days off.
Key Responsibilities
Working collaboratively with the Chef
Produce consistent, quality dishes in a fast-paced environment
Provide a positive influence to the team and coverage or assistance to all stations as needed
Work well under pressure while also creating a welcoming work environment that increases staff morale
Ability to multitask, watch wastage, cooking temps and quality to reduce additional costs
Maintain cleanliness and sanitary standards throughout the facility in compliance with DOH standards.
Maintain a safe environment for all Team Members.
Desired Experience
Passionate, positive person excited to continue growth of an aspirational food program with a tight-knit, fun team. Interest in natural wines a plus.
2+ years of culinary experience in a full-service kitchen
Excellent knife skills, plating techniques, and attention to aesthetics and detail
New York City Food Handler Certificate or willingness to obtain
