Nashville General Hospital is hiring for a Billing and Coding Associate as a full time job.
Location: Fully Remote
Shift: M-F Day Shift
This position is responsible for capturing and analyzing coding for professional services throughout the clinics and hospital setting. This position will in the future be responsible for clinic facility coding and charging.
Job Duties:

Responsible for Reviewing and analyzing medical records to assign the correct codes using ICD-10,CPT and HCPCS codes for the most accurate billing and reimbursement

Communicates with and educates medical and ancillary staff as necessary

Collaborate with billing department to ensure all claims are satisfied in an accurate and timely manner.

Analyzes payer denials and takes appropriate steps to resolve coding errors and disputes including communication with insurance companies.

Identifies opportunities to improve the claim process.

Works with hospital, clinic staff and providers to implement process improvements.

Participates in ongoing continuing education with respect to ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding to maintain credentials.

Assures all required reporting is submitted accurately and timely

Effectively communicates verbally and in writing

Stays current with coding guidelines for multi-specialty; educating physicians and staff as needed.

Assist in maintains delinquent count below 10%.

Understands and adjusts electronic workflow to meet needs of department and organization.

Maintains current working knowledge of departmental applications and how they are used in departmental operations. Is actively involved in the planning, testing, training, and installation of new features and systems.

Maintains monitors and troubleshoots system when system errors occur.

Runs audit logs monthly for physician override and samples to assure all were appropriate

Daily monitors and manages all work queues including Index Correction utility queue.

Assure queues are at an acceptable level and views jobs in queues weekly to assure items are moving through workflow timely.

Troubleshoots those which are not and takes action as needed.

Actively participates in Unbilled Workgroup; coordinating with other departments for solutions Maintains DNFB at target

Assures all policies and regulations are followed when PHI is released

Accepts and completes special projects timely and performs all other assignments to the satisfaction of supervisor.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Education: Associate’s Degree in Healthcare, Business or related field preferred
Certification & Licensures:
Required: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), RHIT, or CCS-P required.
Experience:

Two (2) years' experience required in related professional coding or related required.

Strong analytical, detail oriented, and organizational skills in order to maintain and monitor system in coordination with user needs,

Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written in order to interact with internal and external customers,

Must be able to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks and priorities
