Position Summary:
To provide direct and indirect nursing care to patients within a specific nursing department.
Patient Population:
Adolescents, adults, and older adults who require comprehensive care requiring multi-system support.
Duties
- Identifies stages of human growth and development and uses this information to provide age appropriate care to the patient population served.
- Identifies the psychology of developmental stages and uses this information to provide age appropriate care which fosters growth.
- Utilizes communication skills appropriate to the age, developmental stage, and literacy level of patients served.
- Recognizes and reports suspected cases of child/elder abuse in accordance with applicable statutes.
- Identifies the pathophysiology of multi-system disease/failure and uses this information to plan appropriate nursing care
- Identifies the pathophysiology of trauma and uses this information to plan appropriate nursing care.
- Identifies the physiologic changes induced by surgery and uses this information to plan appropriate nursing care.
Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation designated educational credentials:
- Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses
- Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course
- Trauma Nurse Core Course
Experience
Staff Nurse
1 year clinical nursing experience
Mandated and Permissive Reproter Training required
