Training and development
Reporting to the Center Director, the Teacher will oversee the learning objectives of children and the creation and management of a variety of learning environments and activities that will provide opportunities for children to develop to their fullest potential. Smart Kids CDC teachers work as a team with fellow staff to promote the interests of the children and the school in general.
The successful candidate will be accountable for:

Encourage a positive learning environment for all children within the Center.

Document and share with parents the important milestones in a child’s day.

Implement an engaging and developmentally appropriate curriculum.

Respect and observe children's interests. Intervene when needed to maintain safety. Enhance children's play with language, toys, and activities.

Encourage and model social behavior and expectations which are developmentally appropriate.

Share ideas in planning a daily schedule which provides a balance of activities: quiet/active, indoor/outdoor, fine/gross motor, etc.

Attending staff meetings, conferences, and workshops.

Holding regular parent-teacher meetings to address any issues, concerns, or parent complaints.

Daily cleaning and maintenance of the classrooms and common areas - trash removal and disposal from the classrooms.

Maintaining state regulations for licensing and sanitation.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and education requirements:

Previous experience as a Preschool Assistant Teacher.

Must meet all state Preschool Assistant Teacher requirements for MECK.
-
Child Development Associate (CDA) or college degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, or related field.

Must pass state of NC requirements: fingerprint and criminal background check, TB test, annual physical examination.

Pediatric First Aid and CPR Training and ITS/SIDS Training or willing to obtain within 6 weeks of hire.
