Radiology Operations Team Lead – Full-Time

Princeton Radiology Associates is a physician group practice providing diagnostic imaging services at ten imaging centers and two hospitals in New Jersey.
Princeton Radiology Associates is currently seeking a full-time Radiology Operations Team Lead to work in our outpatient imaging facility located in Freehold.
Summary of Position:
The Operations Team Lead will assist the Radiology Operations Manager on a daily basis and provide administrative and operational support to employees in the absence of the Radiology Operations Manager. The individual is responsible daily for ensuring verification of insurance information, plan benefits and pre-certification requirements, and documents patient’s financial obligation prior to scheduled appointment. The Team Lead will also assist front desk staff when needed. The Team Lead must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Assist Radiology Operations Manager on a daily basis.
- Provide administrative and operational support to employees in the absence of the Radiology Operations Manager.
- Review patient’s insurance information and eligibility for services.
- Verify pre-certification and referral requirements are needed prior to services.
- Document patient financial obligation; copays, coinsurance, deductible, self-pay etc.
- Communicate with insurance companies, referring physicians, and/or patients to verify insurance eligibility and pre-authorization status as needed.
- Re-schedule patients as needed.
- Input proper corrections in RIS (radiology information system) as needed.
- Greet and direct patients/physicians/visitors.
- Verify patient demographics, update insurance information and referring physician information in RIS.
- Process and scan all necessary patient paperwork (insurance cards, ID, referrals, waivers, HIPAA forms, etc.), and monitor incoming faxes.
- Collect any office visit co-payments and/or co-insurance.
- Create CD’s for patients, as well as ‘release of records’ while verifying patient identity.
- Communicate with referring physician offices as needed.
- Promptly and professionally answer telephone calls, and route calls appropriately.
- Assist the team with any questions, challenges or conflicts.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all patients.
- Demonstrate ability to keep abreast of regulatory and insurance requirements ensuring that changes are incorporated in daily job functions.
- Adhere to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies through HIPAA compliance.
- Communicate any customer service issues and any necessary updates to the Radiology Operations Manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum two years of medical office experience in a lead role and minimum one year of pre-registration medical office experience required.
- Must be available to work Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm.
- Demonstrated knowledge of insurances and authorizations.
- Understanding of Radiology Information System (RIS) preferred.
- Ability to recognize and understand clinical data information and medical terminology.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent computer skills and must be able to utilize Microsoft Word and Excel proficiently.
- Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with departments, employees, physicians and managers.
- Must be organized, flexible and a team player.
- Ability to work in a stressful environment and able to handle multiple priorities.
- Strong commitment to customer service.
- Requires the ability to exercise discretion and use good judgment to perform duties promptly and consistently with little direction.
- Requires the ability to take the appropriate action in response to changes, circumstances or problems.
- Requires the ability to recognize problem situations and refer them to the appropriate staff member.
- Lifting of minor medical supplies.
