Title: Teaching Assistant/Instructional Aide
Reports to: Classroom Teacher
Qualifications: High School diploma, Associates or Bachelor degree. Experience working with children with special needs preferred.
The position is based on 34 hrs per week and employees can choose from a school year contract or an 11 month contract which includes working July 7-August 1. Salary is based on education and past work experience.
Salary Ranges:
HS Diploma: $19.52-23.31/hr ($24,423.-29,163./ 10 month school yr)
or $26,893.-32,112. for 11 month contract, including 4 week summer program
Para Pro : $21.12-24.91/hr ($26,423-31,163./ 10 month school yr) https://www.ets.org/parapro.html

Associates: $23.50-28.27/hr ($29,400-35,371./ 10 month school yr)
or $32,373.-38,947 for 11 month contract, including 4 week summer program
Bachelors: $27.48-33.98/hr ($34,376-42,518./ 10 month school yr)
or $37,852.-46,816 for 11 month contract, including 4 week summer program
Scope of Duties:
Responsible to and functions under the direction of the classroom Teacher.
Assist the teacher in the delivery of instruction and the implementation of the IEP Goals and objectives.
Ensure the safety of the children in all environments.
Assist in facilitating independence, social awareness, language and appropriate behavior.
Assist the teacher in the collection of data.
Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
Participates in training in relevant areas.
Carries out other assigned duties, for example; supervise student(s)at lunch or in the playground; personal care support such as toileting, self care, clerical tasks, etc. as assigned by the classroom teacher, program principal or executive director.
Experience working with students with severe disabilities and Applied Behavior Analysis preferred. Candidates must be able to work with students with significantly challenging behavior.
Must be able to lift the equivalent of 40- 50 lbs and move swiftly from floor to stand and vice versa.
SEEM will provide training for de-escalation and physical intervention.
Employment is contingent upon passing a SAFIS fingerprint and CORI screening.
