We are looking for a Property Accountant to join our team! The property accountant will be responsible for a portfolio comprised of 10-20 residential properties. They will serve as the key financial resource for the assigned portfolio.
Responsibilities:
This Accounting Associate will be responsible for the execution and distribution of financial statements for a portfolio of 10-20 properties. This position has significant interaction with the operations staff, specifically property managers and members of the financial planning and analysis team.
- Prepare financial statements for a portfolio of properties, including General Ledger month-end close, actual to budget variance review, audits, and knowledge of real estate accounting software
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly property financial statements by deadlines established within Client Accounting Services and by external Client
- Prepare additional schedules, which are required to support account balances or are specifically required by owners
- Submit financial statements and work papers in reviewable form (including documentation) and within the proper time frame for review
- Responsible for cash management of assigned properties
- Ensure that all bank statements are reconciled on a timely basis and follow-up on all outstanding checks and reconciling items monthly
- Coordinate Accounts Payable process – review invoice coding and approvals, and ensure compliance with all appropriate controls are in place
- Maintain a working knowledge of mortgages, real estate taxes, insurance and management agreements for assigned properties
- Assist property manager in responding to tenant and owner requests for financial information
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in accounting
- Experience in Accrual Accounting
- Detail and deadline-oriented
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Demonstrated consistency in values, principles, and work ethic
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Microsoft office suite proficiency
- Strong attention to detail and proficient time management and the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.
- Preferred: Fundamental knowledge of Yardi Voyager
