JOB SUMMARY
The job of the teacher at Kehoe-France Southshore is to plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
● Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that are specific to the content area and align with IB and state standards.
● Plan units of inquiry and lessons following the IB curriculum framework collaboratively with the IB coordinator and specialist teachers.
● Collaborate with the IB coordinator to develop, implement, and deliver Kehoe-France's curricular goals, aligned with the school’s learning improvement planning.
● Be familiar with the scope and sequence, support materials, IB regulations and guidelines, program developments, and professional IB discussions.
● Ensure all lesson plans and necessary IB timelines, internal and external, are met.
● Support other classroom teachers for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of the established curriculum.
● Be an active advocate of Kehoe-France's vision, mission, and promises.
● Collaborate with instructional staff, other school personnel, and parents for the purpose of improving overall quality of student outcomes, and achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school’s vision, mission, and promises.
● Be an active advocate for Kehoe-France's curricular and philosophical commitments as an IB World School.
● Model the qualities of the IB learner profile and attitudes.
● Ensure effective use of digital platforms to support instruction (Including, but not limited to Seesaw, Engage, Google Workspace).
● Embed the use of technology instruction within lessons.
● Participate in a variety of meetings and professional development activities for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions and to improve student achievement.
● Administer and develop subject specific formative and summative assessments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or addressing individual student’s needs.
● Advise parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations and student’s achievements; develop methods for improvements and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.
● Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
● Ensure prompt reporting, feedback, and recording of any and all safeguarding concerns, liaising with the school counselor, safeguarding lead.
● Evaluate the effectiveness of classroom learning using multiple sources of evidence including: students assessment data, curriculum documents, teaching practice, learning outcomes, and feedback from students, colleagues, and parents/caregivers.
● Manage student behavior in accordance with Kehoe-France's Discipline Policy for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
● Monitor students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, playground, school grounds, hallways, restrooms, field trips, cafeteria, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
● Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs, and student organizations as directed.
● Perform other duties as assigned (e.g. AM/PM, Lunch, etc.).
● Be familiar with and adhere to school policies and procedures, emergency drills, and safeguarding guidelines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: lifting, carrying, squatting, pushing, and/or pulling. Generally the job requires sitting, walking, and standing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Education; Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate
This position is conditional to the provision of federal criminal background checks covering the countries that you have lived and worked in for the last 10 years and any convictions highlighted will be reviewed against standard Safeguarding principles of working with children. All checks requested to be received prior to commencement of employment. Additionally, all employees are required to be drug tested upon hire. The school also will require random drug tests.

Drug Test
Additionally, all employees are drug tested upon hire. The school also requires at random tests as well.
Safeguarding Policy
Our center recognizes its role in safeguarding children as our primary concern. All staff of the school are considered by Louisiana state law as ‘mandated reporters’ who must report any and all allegations of abuse that are shared with them. In holding this responsibility for our students, staff adhered to the following basic principles to maintain the safety of our students.

Safer Recruitment Policy
Our school will do all they can to ensure that all those working with children in our school are suitable people. In order to do this, all staff who will work in an unsupervised capacity with children or young people will be recruited using safe recruitment procedures.
Safe recruitment involves scrutinizing applicants through the interview process with the use of team, application forms, verifying identity, qualifications and obtaining appropriate references, undertaking criminal background checks from all countries where the applicant has lived or worked in the last ten years, as well as the use of drug testing. At least one member of any interviewing team must have undertaken safe recruitment training.
