Position: Machine Maintenance Technician (2nd and 3rd Shift)
Reports To: Plant Superintendent
Pay Rate: Up to $28.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Primary Function: As a Machine Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for the overall maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, and facility issues. Your primary objective will be to ensure that all equipment and systems are functioning efficiently and effectively, minimizing downtime, and maximizing productivity. You will perform routine inspections, troubleshoot issues, and execute repairs or preventive maintenance tasks as necessary.
Essential Functions:
- Machine Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on a variety of machinery, equipment, and systems, including but not limited to electrical systems, plumbing fixtures, production machinery, and building facilities.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and diagnose equipment malfunctions, mechanical or electrical failures, leaks, and other issues. Determine the root cause of the problem and develop effective solutions.
- Repair and Maintenance: Execute timely repairs, replacements, or adjustments on faulty components or systems to restore functionality. This includes repairing or replacing defective parts, adjusting settings, lubricating machinery, and calibrating equipment.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including inspection reports, repairs conducted, parts used, and any relevant documentation. Report any recurring issues or equipment vulnerabilities to the maintenance director and manager.
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubrication, inspections, and adjustments. Follow maintenance schedules and ensure adherence to maintenance procedures.
- Safety Compliance: Comply with all safety regulations and procedures, ensuring a safe work environment for yourself and others. Identify potential safety hazards and take appropriate action to mitigate risks. Work with employees to ensure safety is properly being addressed within their respective areas.
- Equipment Upgrades and Modifications: Assist in equipment installations, upgrades, or modifications by following technical specifications, manuals, and blueprints. Collaborate with other departments or external contractors as needed.
- Inventory Management: Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment necessary for repairs and maintenance activities. Coordinate with the procurement department to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other maintenance staff, technicians, and relevant departments to troubleshoot complex issues and support cross-functional projects. Provide guidance or training to other technicians, as required.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reliability, and efficiency. Propose and implement process enhancements, cost-saving measures, and best practices.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in a relevant field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a maintenance technician or in a similar role.
- Solid knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing a variety of equipment and machinery.
- Basic understanding of safety protocols and regulations.
- Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects.
- Experience troubleshooting and fixing manufacturing production machinery is required.
- Bilingual: Spanish is required.
