Shipping/Material Handler Associate!!!!

PURPOSE
Under the supervision of the Logistics Director and Supervisor on duty in cooperation with other Airlite Nonwovens staff and consistent with the standards of Airlite Nonwovens, the Material Handler will be directly responsible for working productively with other Airlite Nonwovens employees to provide superior quality, low cost, on-time products that exceed our customer’s speciation through teamwork, continuous improvement and innovative thinking.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following, other duties may be assigned.
· Regular and punctual attendance
· Ability to work as a team player and cooperate when there are tight schedules to meet customer requirements such as stay late when needed.
· Make sure correct fibers are brought to the lines and loaded in a timely manner.
· Ability to assess situations and take the appropriate corrective action.
· Must be willing to learn and work on computers and shipping systems
· Ability to organize and properly store finished goods in their proper place in the warehouse.
· Responsible for following all safety guidelines and for keeping the work area clean
· Must work interactively with other departments and follow company policies and procedures
· Load and unload trucks, when help is needed, accurately according to customer expectation and demand.
· Assist in keeping necessary quantities of fibers stored in the warehouse.
· Accuracy of shipping and receiving documents
· Maintain forklifts according to work instructions
· Maintain and clean warehouse, dock doors, and any other areas as needed.
· Fill in for multiple job functions on and as needed basis.
- All other appropriate duties as assigned
RELATIONSHIPS:
· Communicate and work directly with the plant operations, transportation vendors/carriers, and manufacturing personnel.
· Dealing with carrier drivers professionally.
· Promote team work between departments.
SUPERVISION
· Work under the general supervision of the Logistics Director and the Supervisor on duty.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
· Experience with LTL, FTL, air, small package and ocean transportation
· Basic computer and interpersonal skills including excel and barcom
· Must be willing to work under pressure with tight deadlines
· Knowledge of ISO and IATF requirements and standards.
· Be able to follow instructions for shipping, receiving and production process.
· Initiative to understand the job requirements, job safety and 6S
- Direct efforts to achieve a Quality product, which meets customer(s) specifications.
- Working knowledge of assembly and packaging requirements and techniques.
· Show strong initiative and self-motivation
TRAINING/CERTIFICATION/LICENSE REQUIRED
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
· Tow motor operating license
· At least one year related experience and/or training.
· Basic excel knowledge
LANGUAGE SKILLS
· Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
· Ability to write simple correspondence
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals in conversion of weight and measure, volume and distance
WORKING CONDITIONS
· Lifting: Exerting up to (100) pounds of force infrequently, involves transporting, positioning, stooping, and bending on an infrequent basis.
· Incumbent is exposed to internal office conditions and internal plant conditions such as infrequent exposure to loud noise (s).
· Infrequent exposure to Hi-Lo traffic.
