Job Summary:
Oxford Athletic Club is the most extensive private health and fitness club in the Pittsburgh area and is nationally recognized by International Health, Racquet, and Sports Associations (IHRSA) for excellence. We are currently looking for a full-time Personal Training Manager, who will be responsible for generating monthly training revenues and managing the entire training department including sales, staffing, member results and retention. The Personal Training Manager’s ultimate responsibility is to coach the trainers to success, through programming, sales, and service.
Job Duties:
- Serve as a ‘guidance counselor’ to all members of the club, ‘educator and mentor’ for all training staff, and ‘strategist’ for the Club Manager.
- Lead generation including Social Media Marketing, Grass Roots Marketing and B2B Networking.
- Assesses individual performance, provides feedback, and employee recognition
- Makes hiring, promotion, disciplinary, and termination recommendations to the Director of operations.
- Conducts weekly Personal Training and Pilates Department and Management meetings
- Ensures that monthly budget is met
- Is directly selling personal training and Pilates programs on a daily basis
- Manage Personal Trainer and Pilates instructor schedules.
- Independently make decisions related to high-level customer service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the fitness club.
- Completes payroll and ensures payroll expenses are within budgetary guidelines
- Strategically manage marketing department campaigns to generate leads for the fitness club.
- Lead the personal training and Pilates team to high training standards. Lead by example when it comes to the member experience at the Club.
- Follow up on sales leads and build a pipeline of prospective new clients
- Actively participate in community-sponsored events and other outside opportunities to promote the Club
- Network within the fitness industry and other outside industries to drive recognition and interest in the Club
- Provide good member service to members and prospective members and assist in resolving issues that arise.
- Adheres to all Oxford Athletic Club of Wexford personnel policies regarding hours, dress, etc.
- Participates in the Manager on Duty program.
- Attend weekly leadership meetings
- Performs other duties as reasonably assigned by supervisors, managers, senior staff, and the General Manager
- Enforce Oxford Athletic Club policies and procedures.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Sports Medicine or other related field
Certifications:
- Current CPR, AED and personal training certification(s) are required as is a current nationally recognized certification such as NASM or ACE
Skills & Abilities:
- 5+ years previous sales experience, preferably in the fitness industry
- 3+ years in a management role
- Previous PT experience is preferred in either a fitness facility or private training environment
- Previous experience with fitness club management software
- Superior communication skills (verbal & written) with the ability to connect with people while motivating them to achieve their goals
- Efficiently train Managers, Staff and Personal Trainers.
- Ability to personally generate Personal Training sales.
- Capability to work independently and collaborate with Upper Management.
- Ability to recognize areas of improvement and make changes using good judgment.
- An affinity and passion for fitness.
- Solid writing and grammar skills.
- Highly organized, proficient in data management, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Professional, punctual, reliable and neat.
- Trustworthy and able to handle confidential information.
- Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers, clients and the general public.
- Proficiency with computers MS Office, Google, and CRM software.
Working Conditions
- Physical stamina and mobility including ability to reach, kneel, and bend
- Ability to lift, push, and pull required load (usually about 30lbs.)
