Description:
The role of the Shipping/ Receiving Clerk is responsible for tracking inventory levels, handling all aspects of shipping and receiving, and keeping accurate records. On the shipping side, they package materials, print labels, weigh materials and determine appropriate shipping labels within customer specification. As receiving clerks, they are responsible for comparing bills of lading against actual material received, inspecting for damaged or non-conforming materials.
Duties and Responsibilities

Move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas by hand, forklift or other equipment

Determine method of shipment and prepare bills, invoices and other shipping documents

Receive merchandise - check and sign delivery slips, and assist with unloading as necessary

Identify and transport requested materials to and from various locations

Accurately maintain inventory database and paperwork

Weigh and tag all inbound materials and track through database

Support the operation in housekeeping and maintaining a safe work environment

Perform daily preventative maintenance on equipment as required

Follow the dress code and maintain compliance with proper PPE at all times

Work independently in the absence of direct supervision

Requirements:
- Forklift experience required

Computer experience preferred

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Good problem solving skills

Pass a pre-employment drug screen

Pass a pre-employment background check

Willing to work overtime and weekends when necessary
Physical Requirements

Sit, stand, walk, and stoop for long periods of time

Able to climb in/on mobile equipment

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis

Exposure to physical operations in scrap recycling facilities, including walking/climbing in active industrial yards with uneven surfaces in inclement weather
