ESA Fabrication is a national manufacture of metal products, serving the Electrical Construction Industry since 2005. We started out as a small shop in Phoenix, Arizona and have grown into a national manufacturing company serving all 50 states. We build a variety of products such as material handling carts, wire handling equipment, pipe products, electrical enclosures, and power distribution assemblies. In addition, ESA Fabrication is also a custom fabrication shop with a unique skill set to build a variety of specialized products to serve our customers. We are currently looking to hire a highly motivated and creative Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. The position entails working with the team to develop new products and support existing ones; developing concepts and taking them from initial design and prototyping through commercialization. This candidate will be required to work closely with the principals, production, and fabricators to design and manufacture a variety of products including hydraulic, pneumatic, and electric powered wire handling systems, custom material handling carts, trailers, wire payout systems, as well as custom fabrication projects. The position will be responsible for creating and maintaining 3D models, assemblies, and fabrication drawings using Solidworks. This position will report directly to the President.
Key Responsibilities:
- Development of new products to meet product requirements, cost targets and manufacturability goals.

- Evaluate mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research, and by applying principles of mechanics, hydraulics, materials engineering, and finite element analysis.
- Creates CAD models, including part and assembly drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM’s) to support manufacturing, testing and assembly, and support components to assist with assembly.
- Work with production to design and build machine tools and dies.
- Create product support documentation which includes Drawings, Renderings, Parts and Service diagrams, Operation Manuals, and Shop Manuals.
- Participate in generation of intellectual property (IP) ideas. Recognize and document new technology and submit for possible Patent Application.
- Submit innovative ideas which could significantly improve market share, profitability, etc. Complete documentation and reports for testing and regulatory submissions.
- Supports product sourcing, purchasing and selection as required by the design process.
- Provides technical and engineering support for day-to-day production operations, product development and process improvements.
- Organize and maintain accurate and complete engineering records.
Qualifications:
- Strong Proficiency in software applications including Solid Works, Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point, as a minimum.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes including water jet or laser cutting systems, sheet metal shear and brake, turning, milling and welding. Experience with CAM software is a plus.
- Minimum of BS degree required.
- > 5 years of experience preferred.
- Skilled in industrial design.
- Knowledge of engineering standards in drawing practice, dimensioning and metrology tolerances, drawing symbols, welding practice, etc.
- Familiarity with standard engineering concepts, practices, and procedures with CNC machines and other manufacturing shop equipment.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively; capable of listening intently; visual acuity to process reports.
- Self-motivated, Can-do and Hands-on attitude that isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
- Able to work in a small company environment.
- Experience with sheet metal and welded metal design.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
