Supplier Quality Engineer – Richmond, VA
Drive the supplier qualification/re-qualification process and ensure the supply base is and remains fully qualified and compliant. Support supplier onboarding (buyer responsible). Do risk assessment and based on this, plan and conduct, or ensure, required supplier assessments including assessment reporting and non-conformance reporting. Verify effective closure of assessment non-conformances, by the supplier. Ensures each supplier is in compliance with the Supplier Code of Conduct, ethics and corporate governance, standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
Supplier audits: perform supplier audits, establish development plans, and follow up on corrective action plan implementation and validation.
Ensure Early Supplier Involvement (ESI) in product development activities.
PPAP: Review documentation, processes, and controls and ensure it meets expectations.
1st article inspection during WIP at supplier facility and/or incoming inspection: review specification, drawing, packaging standards, measure/test parts, etc.
Create and update inspection/testing plans for parts.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams the qualification procedures such as electrical, and mechanical testing, and ensure parts are tested in a timely manner.
Sub-contractors & outsourcing: monitor performance defects, create supplier performance reports, and lead continuous improvements with suppliers.
Non-conforming materials: Lead and support resolution of non-conforming materials (NCM) issues with supplier and cross-functional teams.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, with a primary focus on supplier-related activities such as QWins Supplier Integrations (lean manufacturing and advanced quality practices).
Develop, train, and support targeted suppliers to achieve ongoing conformity with Customer and requirements, critical to quality, and continuous quality improvement (e.g., reduction of variation/cost or increase of sustainability, service/delivery performance, SPC follow-up, 5S, etc.)
Define & develop with local unit counterparts (Sourcing, Quality, Operations, R&D / Technology) local quality procedures, checklists, Quality and Packaging Specifications, critical to quality and best practices.
Ensure Quality Management System is maintained and 3rd party ISO 9001 certified.
Your Background:
Bachelor’s degree within a Business, Engineering field, or related field.
2+ years of quality/manufacturing experience
Preferred: green belt cert.
Ability to ensure conformance with Customer and requirements and the implementation of category strategy both in the short and long term.
Ability to perform risk mitigation activities.
Ability to lead and conduct HSEQ audits, supplier performance evaluations, and supplier development and improvement implementation.
The role requires the ability to work closely with category teams, responsible buyers, Quality & Operations, Sustainability/HSE, R&D/Engineering and project tender teams, among others. Represents the “Voice of Supplier”, e.g. R&D, Engineering, Procurement & Logistics, Quality, and Manufacturing. Represents “Voice of Customer” of suppliers.
Ability to monitor and report supplier performance (KPIs), quality issues, and development actions.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
