JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
An Equipment Loader, Machine Operator (Forklift, etc.), and/or Material Handler, is responsible for operating and controlling a wide variety of equipment vehicles/heavy machinery that are typically found at a material recovery facility including forklift, skid steer, and loader to move raw materials around a work site.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Comply with all company safety policies, standards, and procedures as guideline for operating and maintaining equipment machinery as set by Gold Medal Environmental and OSHA.
Operates equipment in compliance with the company operating safety policies and procedures.
Conducts routine equipment inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment; maintains accurate records.
Moves and positions raw materials and finished components with use of material moving equipment.
Ability to work various hours and flexible shifts when needed.
Helps maintain cleanliness of facility and maintenance areas.
Ability to follow instructions and work with limited supervision.
Performs other duties as assigned by Management, such as traffic control, janitorial duties of trailer and office, picking up and disposing of garbage and overall outside facility maintenance cleanup, miscellaneous tasks and/or other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
The normal setting for this position is operating equipment/machinery and as such, this work is performed outdoors, with exposure in all seasonal weather conditions, including heat, snow, cold, rain, and wind.
Safety is of the utmost importance as incumbent is required to enter and exit the vehicle frequently.
Incumbent is frequently exposed to noise, vibration, dirt, dust, grease, and foul odors.
The work requires mandatory use of personal protective equipment (including gloves, high visibility vests and uniforms).
To successfully perform the essential functions of the job, the incumbent must be able to work in this environment and perform all duties as described below:
Ability to pass a Functional Capacity Exam.
Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc.) associated with working in this type of environment.
Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery.
Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.
Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains.

Hearing: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with employees and others
Ability to climb, bend, stoop, twist and reach in front of body, overhead and to the floor.
Exert physical effort in handling objects (grab, lift, move, place, shift, pull, push, adjust) 25-50 pounds of force
Fine Motor Control: Required to have motor control and coordination of hands, wrist, and finger dexterity to write, type, use of steering wheel, shifting, equipment and machine operation, etc.
